Teyon and Youdagames have announced their upcoming title, Governor of Poker, will be released on the Nintendo 3DS next week. The game will be available via the Nintendo eShop in both North America and Europe as of April 10 for $4.99 and €4.99 respectively.
The game isn’t just simply a poker sim, but looks like it will have some town building elements as well. The game takes place in the desert town of San Saba where you begin your journey to building your reputation and riches up to take over the whole state of Texas. Play your cards right and win big in numerous poker tournaments and cash games to buy real estate, transport and eventually entire towns!
The game will feature two modes of game play for either quick rounds of poker or dealing your hand for the title of Governor. In the game you can lay claim to over ten Texan towns and also claim all 24 rewards!
The game certainly seems like it will be an interesting, and unique, game on the 3DS. Governor of Poker is rated T for Teen and will be released on April 10th, 2014.

“This time, Sonic Lost World is a title that only released on Nintendo hardware, which is an opportunity that I couldn’t believe, collaborating together. This time, the appearance is interesting, as combining Sonic into such a world is extremely foreign, and I wanted to aim at the unexpected.
There has been much mix and collaboration of Mario and Sonic in the “Mario & Sonic” series, and they have parts that resemble both games. There was also the idea that the combination of the two might not be that interesting to the audience.
In normal production, the hardest part is building up the base of the game. Stages can normally be changed simply by variations, but this time, it was shaped to be a different experience on each stage [of the DLC], which is why it took so long to complete. It’s easy for Yoshi to be in Sonic Lost World, but the music, sound, and soundtrack of “The Legend of Zelda” made the development all the more entertaining and fun. I now feel like I want to make more, rather than just simply one zone. (Laughs)"
Turns out each stage took about 3 months to develop, and Iizuka originally wanted to have these stages included in the retail release. The schedule got too busy, so the levels ended up as DLC.

NE: Speaking of your previous works, have you considered bringing any of your mobile titles to Wii U?
L: I have a few games I think would work well as cheap eShop games and after Twisted Fusion I will consider bringing them over. The reason why I went with a more complex, new and exclusive game first was their are some initial things that need to be funded which would be easier to absorb into a more impressive project. If Twisted Fusion is successful I wont need to hit Kickstarter to up-port some of my other games to Wii U.
NE: How will you proceed if Twisted Fusion’s Kickstarter funding goal isn’t met? Can fans still expect to see the game in the future? Would you consider relaunching the campaign at a lower target?
L: If the Kickstarter goal isn’t met, I will likely have to move the project onto mobile and bring back the virtual controls. The Kickstarter money is needed to fund the required gear need to develop the game and the other fees needed to get the game up on the eShop in America and Europe once the game is completed. Please all check the Kickstarter, not only would you be supporting me and the Wii U but we have some very special rewards tiers for pledges, including becoming a NPC in the game.

Fans can choose which Mega Man game they want to see first by voting on Capcom Unity. Since Mega Man II – Mega Man IV were remixes of the NES games, I’m voting for Mega Man V. This was the only Game Boy game with all original robot masters called the Stardroids and Tango the Cat.

Later this week, Nintendo will be releasing onto the Virtual Console one of our favorite GBA games, Advance Wars. But aside from Intelligent System’s fantastic strategy roleplaying game, there will be two other great titles gracing the eShop: Metroid Fusion and Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. To make matters better is a bit of news that was revealed earlier this afternoon: each of the games will include digital versions of their original paper manuals. That’s right, kids, we used to get thick, full-color, amazingly written instruction manuals with our games.
This trio of GBA titles hits Wii U this coming Thursday, for the bite-size price of $6.99. Until then, scope the screeny below for a shot of that digital manual goodness.

Namco Bandai Games America has revealed the PS Vita version of One Piece: Unlimited World Red will be making it’s way to GameStop/EBGames as a physical release. It’s assumed the physical version of the game will be an exclusive to them in North America. The PlayStation 3 and Nintendo 3DS versions will be available as physical items across North America, while the Nintendo WiiU version will be digital only.
Over in Europe and Australasia, copies of the game for all four platforms will be a physical release. Namco Bandai Europe actually released about six new screenshots this morning, which you can see here

Disney Magical World is launching in North America on April 11, and Nintendo has confirmed the simultaneous release of a Mickey Mouse-branded 3DS XL console. Some photos of the console have appeared online.
Both Walmart and the Nintendo World Store will stock the console, seen above in the hands of Cole Pendery and fellow Disney star G Hannelius. The photos were released by Nintendo, but no pricing has been made public at the time of writing. Other branded 3DS XL consoles have come in at $199.99 however, so that could be an indicator.

Nintendo has yet to confirm a western release for Tomodachi Collection, but a French trailer has surfaced today to suggest that the RPG sim might be making its way to the west very soon.
Tomodachi Collection is a life simulation RPG, similar to The Sims and Animal Crossing, except you get to use your Mii characters. Tomodachi Collection: New Life was only ever released in Japan on the 3DS, following a successful release of the first game on the DS.

Yosuke Matsuda pledges to concentrate on core audience for future AAA releases

Square Enix president Yosuke Matsuda has pledged to take the company "back to [its] roots" in AAA development.
In an interview with Nikkei Trendy, translated by Siliconera, Matsuda lamented a loss of focus in Square Enix's products, all in the name of reaching a global audience.
"If you focus too much on the global aspect, you might lose sight of who you're actually making the game for," he said, referring to the company's 2013 release slate, which included IO Interactive's Hitman: Absolution.
"The development team for Hitman: Absolution really struggled in this regard. They implemented a vast amount of 'elements for the mass' instead of for the core fans, as a way to try getting as many new players possible. It was a strategy to gain mass appeal.
"However, what makes the Hitman series good is its appeal to core gamers, and many fans felt the lack of focus in that regard, which ended up making it struggle in sales."
Matsuda offered Bravely Default on the 3DS as an example of a game that was made for a specific audience in Japan, but went on to sell in countries all over the world. This sort of thinking will inform Square Enix's AAA strategy from now on.
"For the new games we'll be developing from this point on, while this may sound a bit extreme, we've been talking about making them as heavy JRPGs. I believe that way, we can better focus on our target, which will also bring better results."
Matsuda has spoken about ringing in the changes at Square Enix ever since he took over from Yoichi Wada in March 2013. In April, he promised to "fundamentally review" the way the entire company worked and the sort projects it developed. By October, he was describing an "urgent need for reform" within the company.
