Put That Back | Nintendo Reveals Wii U Deluxe Set Promo

Earn points. Get more goodies.

If you’ve been searching for another incentive to purchase the Wii U Deluxe Edition, Nintendo has got your number. Earlier today, the company revealed new details that will reward select owners with even additional value for putting forth the investment towards the premium bundle. The Deluxe Set contains everything you’ll need to for a non-stop marathon of excitement including a black Wii U console, a black touch-screen Wii U Gamepad controller, sensor bar, HDMI cable, charging cradle and of course, the highly anticipated Nintendo Land.

And the best part is, you’ll be able to instantly start earning points with the newly announced Deluxe Digital Promotion via the Nintendo Network Account. Yes. Points. Quite unlike that fictional currency Mario has been tirelessly collecting over the past 2 decades. So here’s how this exclusive promotion works:

Upon purchasing the Deluxe Set, any points you accrue will be redeemable at the Nintendo eShop. These points have the equivalent of a 10% discount, which can definitely add up when you’re running on a fixed budget and have a burning desire to own a good portion of the Wii U launch lineup. As you make purchases on new titles (say New Super Mario Bros. U for example), which sells for $59.99, you’ll earn 599 points. Each time a participant earns 500 points, you’ll receive $5 in credit that’s can be redeemed at the eShop for Nintendo 3DS or the WiiU.

Perhaps the best news is, there’s no rush to spend all your points in one shot. You’ll have plenty of time to store points for something awesome that eventually comes along as the promo doesn’t expire until Dec. 31, 2014.

Nintendo will launch a website dedicated to the Deluxe Digital Promotion in December, allowing participants to check on any points they’ve accrued as well as receiving special codes for eShop credit using a valid Nintendo Network username and password.

Note: Received codes must be exchanged for Nintendo eShop credit on Wii U or Nintendo 3DS by June 30, 2015. Nintendo eShop credit on Wii U and Nintendo 3DS does not expire.
