A fair number of people are wondering when Europe and the US will see The New 3DS.
To understand the issue we have to look at the launch of the New 3DS in Japan. The Original 3DS sales had slowed in Japan before the release of The New 3DS. Nintendo feels that full market saturation of the Original 3DS has not been reached in US and Europe. This makes sense from a business point of view.. If they can still push more units of the Original 3DS and then pump out The New 3DS later.
It does not make sense to your customers. Anyone in the know that does not have a 3DS will hold out for The New 3DS or wait for a price drop on the Original when The New 3DS comes out.
Most people are expecting the US release of The New 3DS around the same time as Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, as its the largest game to utilize the Circle Pad Pro on the 3DS. If a release of The New 3DS was timed with MH4U, a bundle may be an option. At this point most hardcore fans have already pre ordered the game or the Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate Collector’s Edition. Mind you I don’t think this would stop a large number of MH fans from also buy a New 3DS System Bundle also.
Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has also been quoted as of recent talking about the benefits of disabling Region Locking. It is not official and he gave no firm word if they would, but the fact its on the presidents mind is a good sign. Doing this would open up the ability for Monster Hunter fans to import some amazing themed New 3DS’ from Japan and still play the US version of the game with friends.
The New 3DS was released in Japan Oct 11th 2014, Australia and New Zealand November 21, 2014, and Nintendo has said that US and Europe can expect The New 3DS some time in 2015.
