It's a Big Release Week for Nintendo | The Sun Rising Blog

Last week and this week are going to be crucial for Nintendo when it comes to games.

Pokemon mega rayquaza - 2

The supposed 3DS system sellers, Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire coming/now out in all regions. Europe’s release is a bit later, but coming nonetheless. I know I have a handful of readers and commenters (Thanks!) from Europe. What do you think about Pokemon releasing later in your region?

super smash bros gif - 2

Next up is Super Smash Bros for the Wii U. Looks like the game has now sold almost 500,000 units in the US alone. Take note that the number is for both digital and retail sales. I want to know the percentage of the people who bought the digital copy and the retail copy because I feel it is a “telling data” which, alongside eShop data, can probably inform Nintendo if digital is really something that they should keep pushing.

Persona-q

Persona Q is also coming to all regions, although that one has been out in Japan for some months now. Unfortunately, I cannot get this game yet because it is quite pricey in digital. I know it will be a great game and can satisfy the RPG in me, but I already have Pokemon and I don’t think I can play 2 RPGs at the same time with the amount of time I have.

With Black Friday coming, plus Cyber Monday plus the holiday season, PLUS THE GAMES THAT SO MANY PEOPLE THINK THE WII U AND 3DS DON’T HAVE ARE NOW IN, it will be interesting if the 2014 holidays will be good for Nintendo – unlike the past few years and more like 2006.
