Capcom Making May the Month of Mega Man - Guardian Liberty Voice

Mega May offering Mega man games to Nintendo 3DS eShop

Let’s hope you still love playing Mega Man games because Capcom has announced that they will be bringing six titles to the Nintendo 3DS eShop this May. That’s right, May is now the month dedicated to jumping and shooting as the newly introduced “Mega May.”

The blue bomber is back and awaiting your votes. Capcom has officially announced that during the month of May they will be adding six Mega Man titles for download via the Nintendo 3DS. The thing is, they have yet to decide what the order will be for when these titles release. As of now you can go to the Capcom Unity and vote to decide the which games need to come out first.

The selection of Mega Man titles being added is interesting, they have many of the originals, starting at Mega Man 2 and ending with Mega Man 5. With four of the Mega Man titles right there, only two more remain. Sorry to say to those Super Nintendo fans that not one game from the original X series made it onto this list. Instead, two titles from the Game Boy Color spin-off series will be available for download. Such titles include Mega Man Xtreme and the direct sequel Mega Man Xtreme 2. These are similar to the X series, as they have many of the same enemies, locations, and bosses, but are represented through Game Boy Color graphics instead of Super Nintendo graphics.

Voting has officially begun on Capcom Unity and will remain available for most of April. The last chance to get your vote in will be just before April 14 10 a.m. Pacific Time. With two weeks to tally the votes, May 1 marks the release of the winner of the vote. After that, the game with the next most votes will be released, and so on. Each additional game will release the next Thursday until all of the titles have become available for download on the eShop.

What seems odd is the lack of representation of the true X series. Is it possible Capcom is seizing up their audience to see how desired the X series is? Maybe they want to try to get more use out of the Game Boy series that most will never touch again. Either way, Capcom should have realized a long time ago that North America is full of Mega Man fans. If they didn’t realize that yet all they need to do is look at the kickstarter for Mighty No. 9, which hit every single one of its stretch goals and totaled more than $4 million in funds.

Whether you are ready for Mega May or not, it is happening. Capcom is bringing Mega Man to the Nintendo 3DS eShop in a big way, gathering input from fans and releasing a total of six titles. Will they bundle them together for a super sweet deal? Maybe eventually. This may prove to be a boost for Capcom but it will also be a big boost for Might No. 9 since it will be getting so many gamers into the Mega Man mood.
