JR Motorsports O'Reilly Auto Parts Challenge Race Preview | Start ...

Sonic the Hedgehog makes his NASCAR debut this weekend on board Danica Patrick’s No. 7 SEGA Sonic the Hedgehog/GoDaddy.com Chevrolet, which is in promotion of the upcoming release of Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed™. Patrick is featured in the game, which challenges players to race across land, air and water in fully transforming vehicles against an All-Star cast of SEGA characters like Sonic, Knuckles, AiAi and others. Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed will be available on the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, PlayStation®Vita system, the Nintendo 3DS™ hand-held system, Nintendo’s Wii U™ system and PC Digital Download this holiday season.

PATRICK RETURNS TO THE SITE OF HER SEASON BEST FINISH - Patrick will return to Texas Motor Speedway, the track where she earned her season-best effort of eighth in April. During that event, she maintained a position inside the top-15 for most of the night. The pivotal moment for the No. 7 team came with a caution on lap 189. Patrick proceeded to pit for four tires and took the final restart in 13th, improving five positions in the closing laps to finish eighth.

NASCAR BASHERS ON THE 88 CAR - For the second time this season, the NASCAR Bashers brand is featured as primary sponsor of the No. 88 Chevrolet and driver Cole Whitt. NASCAR Bashers is a line of toys produced by SpinMaster and styled like an actual NASCAR race car. These cars actually crash, featuring multiple different dramatic crash transformations. NASCAR Bashers are available at major toy retailers like Walmart, Target, Toys R Us, Kmart and more.

88 TEAM HITTING ITS STRIDE - Whitt and the 88 team have earned one top-five and five top-10 finishes in the past eight races (Bristol II through Kansas). The team’s average finish in that time is 9.0.

WHITT TO VISIT THE CHEVY STAGE AT TEXAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY - Cole Whitt will appear at the Chevy Stage on Saturday, Nov. 3, at 1 p.m. local time for a Q & A session with fans. The Chevy Stage is located in the fan concourse area on the frontstretch side of Texas Motor Speedway.

A RUNNING TALLY AT INTERMEDIATE TRACKS - The JR Motorsports team’s best finish at 1.5-mile facilities this season came at Kansas Speedway two weeks ago, where Cole Whitt finished fifth. All totaled, the teams have one top-five and seven top-10s (Whitt with five and Patrick with two). JRM’s average finish in those races is 7.4.

88 TEAM CHASSIS INFO - The 88 team will race chassis 746 this weekend in Texas. The team finished fifth with this chassis in Kansas two weeks ago.

7 TEAM CHASSIS INFO - Patrick is scheduled to drive chassis 740 at Texas Motor Speedway this weekend. She earned one top-10 finish with this chassis (Bristol II) and also drove it in races at Charlotte II, Iowa II, Loudon and Richmond II.

DANICA PATRICK ON TEXAS: “I feel like we’ve been much faster and performed much better than what our results show. We definitely had a long stretch of bad luck through the summer, which is when I felt we had the most speed. Everything from Elkhart to Daytona to Iowa, there were a bunch of races where things happened that definitely were not in my full control, but that’s racing.

“We recognize as a team that we need to find more speed and that’s why you’ve seen all the personnel changes. We all want to get faster and be more competitive. For me, ultimately because I’m moving on, it’s about learning and understanding cars and changes. And getting a better grasp for all the elements of the weekend.”

COLE WHITT ON TEXAS: “It’s been an up and down year, but I think it’s been a good one, too. You’ve got to race and learn from your mistakes. I think I’ve been able to do that. So far, it’s been a good year, and we’re starting to really hit our stride and run consistently. There were a lot of changes throughout the season with JRM, all in the direction of making the team better and we really have been improving.

“I am not exactly sure what 2013 holds for me, but we’re going into it with JR Motorsports and hoping to find a little more funding. We want to go for that championship. Hopefully our deal comes together and we find a little more sponsorship because I think we could really give it a good run next year. Plus Regan (Smith) would be a great teammate, and I can learn a lot from him.”
