Play All Of Your Classic Console Games On Your Nintendo 3DS ...

by Tanisha Brase on September 5, 2012

Not too long ago I went out and got myself a 3DS R4 card. I had heard about them from a couple of friends that, much like me, loved to play their old consoles games on emulators. They assured me this thing would let me use SNES (super NES) and NES (Nintendo Entertainment System) games on my Nintendo 3DS console. Sure enough, despite never seeing one in action myself – they were right. The card itself only cost me just under $19.00 and came pre-loaded with a good half dozen emulators for everything from the SNES, NES, TG16, and even the MSX Computer system. No games came included of course. I went online and had no trouble at all finding hundreds (maybe even thousands – I didn’t count) games available for all of these classic systems. I was stunned – and extremely happy – to find that all of these systems are emulated perfectly on my Nintendo 3DS with the help of the 3DS R4. I was playing some of my favourite 8-bit and 16-bit games in no time at all.

I’ve spent a lot of time in the video game world. I started with my Atari 2600 and moved up the so called ranks to the C64, then NES, Super NES, and even had a mega drive console too. Being able to play some of the amazing games I grew up with has been quite a treat. If you’re like me an spent your younger days playing some great games, this card is definitely for you. A lot of the games really do look cheesy now with all of the 3D rendered landscapes and characters we find in todays games, but the pure nostalgia itself makes it all worth while. Beating the same game I played with when I was 12 brings back a slew of memories. And with the 3DS R4 costing less than $20.00 bucks (the emulators are all free) it’s pretty much a must have for people who like to play classic games or use emulators.

You can find out more about the 3ds R4 at the official website at www.r43ds.org. For the emulators and games, google is your friend :)
