'Assassin's Creed Unity' announced; set during French Revolution ...

(From Geeks of Doom) You knew it was coming. The only question was, where would it take place. Now we have an answer.

Ubisoft has officially revealed the next game in the Assassin’s Creed franchise (or one of the next; more on that later), titled Assassin’s Creed Unity. Details are nonexistent at the moment, but the game is said to be set during the French Revolution… so, basically, this may be the closest you’ll ever get to a Les Miserables video game, despite its taking place a few decades before the events of that story and without all the songs.

The first thing to take note of in this first sneak peek video is that it’s described as being alpha game footage. Unity is the first Assassin’s Creed game being made from the ground up for next-gen systems, so it will only be available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. That said, it’s too early on in this newest generation of games to believe that this is actual game footage. One can surely hope, but time will tell.

Speaking on this game only being for next-gen systems, there’s a rumor going around that this will not be the only Assassin’s Creed game coming out this year. If the rumor proves true, a second separate title in the series will be announced for older systems so that everyone who hasn’t yet purchased a new console has a new title to play if they want it. Time will tell on that as well.
