Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) has revealed a brand new trailer for the PlayStation Vita (PS Vita) console, featuring the recently released Resistance: Burning Skies as its lead title. However, the videogame used to showcase the features isn't what's important in this new trailer, it's that the PS Vita console can do what the Nintendo 3DS can't.
Known as the 'Thumbs up for dual controls' trailer, the face value of the trailer is a showcase for the recent launch of the award winning PlayStation first-person shooter (FPS) franchise,Resistance, on PS Vita. In Resistance: Burning Skies, players step into the boots of an everyday hero, Fireman Tom Riley, in the first day of the Chimera invasion of America through New York City. However, more important than any of this is the fact thatResistance: Burning Skies is an FPS that uses dual analog controls as, according to the trailer, 'with only one thumb, it's only half the console FPS experience.'
Of course, the point that SCEE is missing is that, at present, there are no FPS titles available for the Nintendo 3DS in Europe, making their central conceit a little irrelevant. Electronic Theatre will keep you updated with all the latest marketing initiatives from SCEE.
